1935: The first steps towards the creation of the UZEL Group of companies were taken. Turkey was in a struggle to achieve integration into the world community after a long war. Mr. Ibrahim Uzel, founder and first Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UZEL Group, set up a sole-trader company in Bursa and, in his small workshop, he started on the production of leaf springs for motor vehicles, which has grown into the huge leaf spring capability the company has today.

1940: Istanbul had become a global trade centre. Ibrahim Uzel moved his growing business operations, together with his family, to Istanbul. His new premises were based in the Sirkeci district and, in addition to the production of leaf springs; he commenced the manufacture of chassis and various vehicle body parts.

1948: Ibrahim Uzel′s company title was registered. It was recorded as "Ibrahim Uzel" in the Trade Registrations Gazette, and in the Market Inventory, and the business became formally registered.

1953: The title of the company was changed to "İbrahim Uzel ve Ortakları Limited Şirketi" (Ibrahim Uzel & Partners LimitedCompany). The line of business was defined as: "the company can operate in the fields of manufacturing motor vehicle body springs, automobile spare parts and service parts, and any line of industrial and commercial operations." The location of business was registered as Sirkeci, Istanbul.


1958: The industrial plant in Sirkeci became insufficient for the level of production. Ibrahim Uzel looked for new premises. The purchase of a new parcel of land in the Rami district, which today still hosts the operations of Uzel Makina (Uzel Machinery), was arranged, and the construction of the industrial plant commenced.

1970: UZEL Automotive widened its automotive products line, became the first manufacturer of steel wheels in Turkey.

1971: Production of brake systems and helical springs for tractors and Anadol automobiles commenced.

1974: Production began on the first batch of steering boxes.

1974: Invested in coil springs and stabiliser bars


1977: UZEL became a holding company under the chairmanship of Ahmet Uzel.

1992: Technical support agreements signed with Rejna SpA for leaf springs and Gianetti SpA and Fergat SpA for wheels

1998: UZEL Automotive launched its Continuous Development Project, which would lead to the achievement of a flexible operating structure and a corporate culture of self-renewal.

1999: As a result of its study of corporate identity within the framework of the Continuous Development Project, UZEL Automotive redesigned its corporate logo.UZEL Automotive became the first corporation in the Turkish automotive industry to use SAP R/3, which provides solutions to businesses in planning, implementation and all-Group control of business processes. Uzel Sigorta ve Aracılık Hizmetleri A.Ş. commenced operations.

2000: Certified QS 9000 by BVQI


2000: With its acqusition of EFE Otomotiv,renamed “Uzel Yay”
Following the acquisition of Efe Otomotiv, UZEL became one of the three leading European corporations in terms of capacity to produce leaf springs.

2001: Signed an agreement with SPC in U.S.A. marketing for automotive products.

2002: Signed an agreement with KLF, Germany - market leader in leaf springs

2003: Certified ISO/TS 16949:2002 by BVQI

2003: Uzel Automotive GmbHh has been established in Germany

2004: Uzel Automotive LLC has been established in U.S.A

2005: UZEL Automotive was awarded as “The Supplier of the Year” by O.S.D.
